Triprotic Ammonium Oleate Ionic Liquid Crystal Lubricant for Copper-Copper Friction and Wear Reduction

چکیده
The triprotic ammonium carboxylate ionic liquid crystal (2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium oleate (MO) has been studied as a neat lubricant and additive in two base oils, PAO6 100N. lubricants have used commercially pure copper-OFHC copper balls on disk reciprocating sliding contact at room temperature. Neat MO presents very good lubricating performance, with friction coefficient of 0.06 wear rate OFHC 4.15 × 10?7 mm3/N·m. These results are, respectively, 94% 98% lower than those obtained for PAO6, similar reductions respect to also an 2wt.% proportion. severe abrasive mechanism that takes place the presence oils is reduced by additive.

Towards Phosphorus Free Ionic Liquid Anti-Wear Lubricant Additives
The development of improved anti-wear additives would enable the use of lower viscosity oils that would lead to improved efficiency. Ionic liquids have the potential to be this type of new anti-wear additive. However, currently the best performing ionic liquids that are miscible in non-polar base oils, the phosphonium phosphates, contain phosphorus on both the cation and anion. Manufacturers ar...
متن کاملStudy on Friction and Wear Properties of Pantograph Strip/Copper Contact Wire for High-Speed Train
A series of experiments on friction and wear properties of carbon strip rubbing against copper contact wire is performed on high-speed friction and wear tester with electric current. The results show that the friction coefficient is generally maintained between 0.24 and 0.37. In the absence of electric current, the coefficient of friction is higher than that in the presence of electric current....
متن کاملTowards an all-copper redox flow battery based on a copper-containing ionic liquid.
The first redox flow battery (RFB), based on the all-copper liquid metal salt [Cu(MeCN)4][Tf2N], is presented. Liquid metal salts (LMS) are a new type of ionic liquid that functions both as solvent and electrolyte. Non-aqueous electrolytes have advantages over water-based solutions, such as a larger electrochemical window and large thermal stability. The proof-of-concept is given that LMSs can ...
متن کاملExtraction of nanosize copper pollutants with an ionic liquid.
Speciation and possible reaction paths of nanosize copper pollutants extracted with a RTIL (room-temperature ionic liquid ([C4mim][PF6], 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate)) have been studied in the present work. Experimentally, in a very short contact time (2 min), 80-95% of nanosize CuO as well as other forms of copper (such as nanosize Cu, Cu2+, or Cu(II)(ads) (in the channels o...
متن کاملPorous dendritic copper: an electrocatalyst for highly selective CO2 reduction to formate in water/ionic liquid electrolyte.
Copper is currently extensively studied because it provides promising electrodes for carbon dioxide electroreduction. The original combination, reported here, of a nanostructured porous dendritic Cu-based material, characterized by electron microcopy (SEM, TEM) and X-ray diffraction methods, and a water/ionic liquid mixture as the solvent, contributing to CO2 solubilization and activation, resu...
